The Seed of the Month: Beetroot
Beetroot comes from the ancient region of Mesopotamia, which is modern day Iraq (mainly), Iran, Syria and Turkey. In the 19th century beetroot was mainly used as a medicine. But since then Beetroot has been used for an array of things. Beautifully red, beetroot is great for a making dips, perfect for salads, juices and pickling.
Beetroot is amazing as an ingredient of vegan burger patties too.

Ginger
Apple Juice - Optional
Add all of these to taste. Add more ginger if you like a hot shot, add more apple juice if you want to add more sweetness.

SOWING INDOORS:
Beetroot is very easy to grow…
Start in modular tray. Sow 2 seed 1 cm deep.
Transplant when seedlings are 4 cm high with 10 cm distance.
SOWING OUTDOORS:
Sow 3 seeds, 2 cm deep 30 cm apart in well drained soil. Water every 10-14 days depending on weather.
